National Times Bureau :- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has once again received a death threat, this time directly from Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, the head of the banned separatist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). Pannu, who is already declared a terrorist, has again tried to disturb the peace in Punjab by issuing threats and spreading pro-Khalistan propaganda.
In his latest statement, Pannu claimed responsibility for writing provocative slogans on walls in Amritsar, including places like the bus stand, district court complex, and Khalsa College. The slogans read “Khalistan Zindabad”, “SFJ Referendum Zindabad”, and “Bhagwant Mann Murdabad”. He said that these slogans were written on his instructions.
Pannu has also issued a direct threat to CM Bhagwant Mann, saying he would be targeted on August 15, when the Chief Minister is scheduled to hoist the national flag in Faridkot as part of Independence Day celebrations. Pannu openly said that CM Mann should “remember Beant Singh” – referring to the former Punjab CM who was assassinated in 1995. He warned that Bhagwant Mann would be targeted in Faridkot, and taunted him by saying that “last year he was behind bulletproof glass”.
Pannu also criticized the government’s flag-hoisting campaigns and land pooling schemes, claiming they are against the interests of Sikhs, and used these reasons to justify his threats.
Authorities are taking the matter seriously, and security has been tightened in Faridkot and other sensitive areas across Punjab. Investigations are underway to verify Pannu’s claims about the graffiti and to trace those involved.
