Bhagwant Mann Pushes for Anandpur Sahib–Naina Devi Ropeway to Ease Pilgrim Travel

Naina Devi, April 4, 2025 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced a renewed push to kickstart the long-pending ropeway project between Sri Anandpur Sahib and Sri Naina Devi ji, aiming to ease travel for thousands of pilgrims.

Speaking to reporters after offering prayers at the revered Shaktipeeth Sri Naina Devi ji temple during Navratras, Mann said he would soon request the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister to form a joint task force of officers to fast-track the project. He called the ropeway a vital step for improving connectivity between the two major pilgrimage sites separated by tough terrain.

Mann expressed disappointment that the project remained a distant dream due to the apathy of earlier governments. He said this ropeway would allow pilgrims from across India and abroad to travel between the two holy places smoothly, especially during peak religious gatherings.

During his visit, Mann prayed for Punjab’s prosperity and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse. He said he had come to seek Maa Durga’s blessings for the strength to serve the people of Punjab with even greater devotion.

The Chief Minister described Navratras as a time of faith, prayer, and reflection. He said that Punjab’s spiritual and cultural harmony would remain a top priority and vowed to maintain unity across caste, religion, and communities.

Calling the Naina Devi shrine a symbol of inspiration and hope, Mann said his government would leave no stone unturned to deliver on people’s expectations. He added that the administration is focusing on people-centric, development-driven policies to ensure inclusive growth across the state.
