New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh): Rapper-musician Badshah on Tuesday apologised to the National Commission for Women (NCW) over his controversial Haryanvi song Tattiri, following allegations of promoting obscenity and disrespect towards women.
The artist was summoned by the commission after multiple complaints claimed that the song featured sexually explicit lyrics and objectionable visuals that could negatively impact viewers, particularly children.
During the hearing, which was presided over by NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, the commission stated that the song’s lyrics and presentation hurt the dignity and decency of women. It also directed all concerned parties to refrain from producing similar content in the future.
Along with Badshah, directors Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu, and producer Hiten were also present during the proceedings.
Assuring corrective action, Badshah said he would work towards women’s empowerment and pledged to create a “positive” song promoting the cause within four months. He also offered to sponsor the education of 50 economically weaker girls as part of his commitment.
In a related development, the NCW has also issued summons to actors Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt over alleged obscenity in the song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke from the film KD: The Devil, after taking suo motu cognisance of media reports.
