Australia-Punjab Ties Strengthen: MP Dylan Wight Meets Speaker Sandhwan, Talks Tech and Agriculture

Chandigarh, April 24 – Australian MP Dylan Wight met Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan in Chandigarh, discussing deeper cooperation between Australia and Punjab. The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration in education, healthcare, sports, agriculture, and green energy.

Speaker Sandhwan called for partnerships between Australian universities and Punjab-based institutions like Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. He emphasized the importance of bringing cutting-edge technologies to Punjab, especially in renewable energy and farming innovations. Sandhwan noted that adopting modern methods from Australia could improve Punjab’s agricultural productivity and economic strength.

Highlighting Punjab’s green energy potential, the Speaker urged Australia to assist with technology transfers. He also encouraged Wight to foster ties that deliver mutual benefits for both countries.

To honor the visit, Sandhwan presented Wight with a traditional Lohi and a glass replica of Sri Harimandir Sahib, inviting him to visit the iconic shrine in Amritsar.

The meeting was attended by MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj, Melbourne-based Sukhmeet Singh, social entrepreneur Manu Singh, and Dr. Tazinder Pal Singh Nalwa.
