Attack at Sri Guru Ramdas Niwas: SGPC Demands Justice

Amritsar, Match 14, 2025: An attack on devotees and sewadars at Sri Guru Ramdas Niwas, located within Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, has sparked outrage among the Sikh community. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has condemned the violent incident and called for strict action against the attackers.

Shocking Attack During Prayer Gathering
The attack took place around noon when a masked assailant entered Sri Guru Ramdas Niwas and began assaulting devotees and sewadars with an iron rod. Sikh devotees from around the world had gathered to offer prayers for the new Nanakshahi year.

Five people were injured in the attack, including three devotees from Mohali, Bathinda, and Patiala, and two sewadars of Sri Darbar Sahib. One sewadar and a devotee from Bathinda sustained serious head injuries and remain in critical condition. All the injured were rushed to Sri Guru Ramdas Hospital (Vallah), where they are receiving care under SGPC’s supervision.

Attackers Caught; SGPC Demands Full Probe
Swift action and CCTV footage helped security personnel apprehend the attacker and an accomplice. The suspects were handed over to the police. However, the SGPC has demanded a thorough investigation to uncover any larger conspiracy behind the attack.

SGPC Secretary Partap Singh expressed deep concern, stating that such attacks are deliberate attempts to create fear among Sikh devotees and disrupt the peace of the sacred shrine.

Call for Justice and Accountability
The SGPC has urged the government and law enforcement agencies to:

Conduct a swift and transparent investigation.

Reveal the identities and motives of the attackers.

Ensure the culprits face the strictest punishment.

The SGPC has vowed to protect the sanctity of Sri Harmandar Sahib and ensure the safety of Sikh devotees worldwide.
