Alberta (Rajeev Sharma): The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has completed its investigation into a case involving AI-generated intimate images and an Alberta Sheriffs peace officer.
The matter was investigated as a Level 1 case, a category covering incidents involving serious injury or death, as well as allegations concerning an officer that are considered particularly serious or sensitive.
ASIRT’s involvement in the case comes under expanded powers granted to the agency through changes to the Peace Officer Act, which came into effect in December 2025. Under the revised legislation, ASIRT can investigate Level 1 matters involving peace officers.
Following the investigation, ASIRT’s executive director reviewed the evidence collected during the process and issued a written report detailing the findings and conclusions.
Investigation Report Made Public
The completed report has now been released publicly, providing the findings reached by the agency following its review of the case.
ASIRT’s investigation focused on the circumstances surrounding the AI-generated intimate images and the conduct associated with the allegations involving the peace officer.
The agency’s expanded jurisdiction over peace officers represents a change from its earlier mandate, allowing it to examine serious or sensitive matters involving Alberta peace officers when they fall within the Level 1 category.
With the investigation now concluded, ASIRT has formally closed the matter and made its written findings available for public review.
