Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): Ram Prasad Sharma, elder brother of BJP Punjab working president Ashwani Sharma, has passed away after battling illness. He was 63.
Family members informed that R.P. Sharma had been undergoing treatment at PGI Chandigarh for the last 15 days. His health deteriorated recently, and he was admitted to the ICU, where doctors tried to revive him, but he could not recover.
R.P. Sharma retired as an Assistant General Manager from Power Grid and was widely respected in his community. Those close to the family say he was more than just an elder brother to Ashwani Sharma, often guiding him like a father and standing by him in every challenge.
The Sharma family has always lived in a joint household, and his absence will be deeply felt both at home and among extended family and well-wishers.
The final rites are scheduled for 11 a.m. on August 29 at the crematorium near Civil Hospital, Pathankot.
