National Times Bureau :- Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha member and Chancellor of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Ashok Mittal, has expressed deep concern over the ongoing flood situation in Punjab, calling it one of the worst tragedies the state has faced in recent times.
Mittal announced that the families of 43 people who lost their lives due to the floods will receive a permanent job for one eligible member in Lovely Professional University, according to their qualifications. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and assured them of full support during this difficult time.
Highlighting the scale of destruction, Mittal stated that over 1,900 villages across Punjab have been severely affected, with more than four lakh acres of agricultural land submerged under floodwaters. All 23 districts of the state are grappling with the aftermath, causing immense distress to thousands of residents.
He further mentioned that the Punjab government has deployed a gazetted officer in every affected village to ensure round-the-clock monitoring and assistance for relief and rehabilitation operations.
