Chandigarh, July 4 — A vibrant cultural evening marked the ongoing National Conference of Urban Local Bodies’ Chairpersons in Manesar, Gurugram, where artists from diverse regions showcased the rich tapestry of India’s cultural heritage. The event was graced by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma, Aarti Singh Rao, and other dignitaries.
The evening commenced with a mesmerising performance of Gandharva instrumental music, directed by Pandit Chetan Joshi. The presentation, deeply rooted in the traditions of Haryana and Indian classical instruments, recreated the celestial melodies believed to be played by the Gandharvas. The blend of local Haryanvi culture with classical strains captivated the audience as the musical waves resonated through the auditorium.
The second performance featured Haryanvi folk dance by Monty Sharma’s troupe. The folk artists enthralled delegates and guests from across the country with their energetic and colourful performance, earning resounding applause from the audience.
The cultural evening concluded with a thematic choreography titled “Colours of India,” presented by Sanjay Sharma’s troupe. The artists vividly portrayed India’s diverse cultural hues through coordinated dance sequences, leaving the audience spellbound and cheering with loud applause.
These performances were organised under the aegis of the Department of Information, Public Relations, Languages, and Culture, Government of Haryana.
