Army JCO Sacrifices Life During Anti-Terror Operation in Poonch

Poonch (Gurpreet Singh): A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army made the supreme sacrifice on Saturday after a tragic accident during an ongoing anti-terrorist mission in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The soldier, identified as Subedar Sandeep Kumar Dhaka, lost his life after sustaining fatal injuries from a fall in the region’s notoriously difficult terrain.

According to an official statement from the Army’s White Knight Corps, the incident occurred at approximately 2:30 pm during “Operation Sheri Kalan.” Subedar Dhaka was part of a team navigating the rugged and challenging landscape of the general area in Poonch when he slipped and fell, subsequently becoming unresponsive. Despite the immediate and high-risk nature of the operation, his comrades evacuated him to the Military Hospital at Potha.

Medical teams at the facility made determined efforts to revive the gallant JCO, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Subedar Dhaka was known for his unwavering courage and had been part of prolonged operations in the sector to flush out terrorists. The White Knight Corps paid a solemn tribute to his steadfast devotion and selfless service, noting that he served the nation until his very last breath.

The loss of the warrior has cast a shadow of grief over the formation, which reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the bereaved family. Military officials emphasized that the Army stands firmly with the soldier’s kin during this moment of profound sorrow, honoring the memory of a leader who laid down his life in the line of duty.
