Punjab (National Times): The Indian Army Aviation Corps pulled off a high-stakes helicopter rescue operation in Punjab’s Madhopur Headworks, saving civilians and CRPF personnel who were trapped by rapidly rising floodwaters.
At first light, Army pilots launched their mission in extremely challenging conditions. With waters closing in and the structure weakening under pressure, the helicopter crew risked their own lives to land on the fragile rooftop of a building on the verge of collapse.
One by one, the stranded people were lifted to safety, in an operation that demanded precision flying and nerves of steel.
Barely moments after the evacuation, the building gave way and was swallowed by the flood, underscoring the razor-thin margin between life and disaster.
The daring mission has drawn praise from both state authorities and local residents, who hailed the Army’s quick response as a testament to its courage and unwavering commitment to protecting lives in the most perilous circumstances.
