Amritsar Woman Alleges Domestic Violence and Dowry Harassment by In-Laws

National Times Bureau :- In Amritsar, a woman has filed a complaint against her in-laws, accusing them of repeated physical assault and demanding dowry. The matter has gained attention after the Bhagwan Valmiki Seva Society extended support to the victim and accompanied her to lodge a formal complaint with the Amritsar police.

In her petition to SSP Dehati, the woman claimed that she has been beaten and physically abused multiple times over dowry demands. Despite being married for ten years and having four children—three daughters and one son—she alleged that her in-laws continue to subject her to harassment and insist on dowry, including a motorcycle.

The woman stated that even previous attempts at reconciliation through panchayats did not prevent the abuse, and on the most recent occasion, she faced extreme violence and threats to her life.

The Bhagwan Valmiki Seva Society has stood firmly with the victim and her family, urging police authorities to take immediate action against the accused and ensure justice. The organization emphasized that the perpetrators must be held accountable and the victim provided full protection and legal recourse.

Police are now expected to investigate the matter promptly and ensure that appropriate legal measures are taken to safeguard the woman and her family.
