National Times Bureau :- A scuffle broke out between devotees and priests at the Model Town Temple in Amritsar, with the entire incident being captured on the temple’s CCTV cameras. The footage of the altercation has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism from religious figures and temple authorities.
According to sources, the confrontation began over a minor disagreement that quickly escalated. One of the visiting devotees allegedly attacked a priest during the dispute. When another priest attempted to intervene, he too was reportedly manhandled and slapped by the group of agitated devotees.
The incident has drawn sharp condemnation from temple officials and religious leaders, who have termed the incident “deeply unfortunate.” They stressed that respect must be maintained for everyone inside a place of worship—be it a devotee or a priest.
Temple management issued a statement urging authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and take strict action against those responsible. Religious leaders echoed this sentiment, warning that such actions not only hurt public sentiment but also tarnish the sanctity of religious spaces.
They emphasized that maintaining decorum within places of worship is essential to preserving the faith and trust of the public.
