Amritsar (Gurpreet Singh): Amritsar Rural Police have claimed a major success against illegal arms and narcotics trafficking with the arrest of four accused and the recovery of 10 kilograms of heroin and 10 illegal pistols.
According to police, the operation uncovered two separate networks allegedly involved in the movement of drugs and firearms. Preliminary findings indicate that the arrested suspects may have been operating in connection with smugglers based overseas.
Investigators suspect the accused were involved in arranging both narcotics and illegal weapons, though further questioning is underway to establish the extent of their activities and identify other people linked to the networks.
Police have registered two separate FIRs at Gharinda Police Station in Amritsar district in connection with the recoveries and arrests.
Authorities are now examining the alleged supply chains to trace where the drugs and weapons originated and where they were intended to be delivered. Police said the investigation will focus on establishing both the backward and forward links of the networks.
The arrests form part of the Punjab Police’s ongoing action against organised drug trafficking and illegal arms operations, with investigators expected to conduct further searches and questioning as the probe progresses.
