Amritsar Police Dismantle Kishan Gang Module, Solve Municipal Councillor’s Murder Within Hours

Amritsar (National Times): In a major breakthrough, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police have busted a key module of the foreign-based Kishan Gang, arresting four gang operatives within just eight hours of the targeted killing of Harjinder Singh alias Bahman, a Municipal Councillor from Jandiala Guru.

The swift action marks a significant victory in Punjab’s ongoing crackdown on organized crime and gang warfare, particularly those with international backing.

According to senior officials, the operation intensified after Harjinder Singh was gunned down in a suspected gangland hit. Acting on intelligence, the police tracked down the suspects near Fatahpur, where Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi—one of the accused—opened fire on the pursuing team. In retaliation and self-defence, SHO Chheharta fired back, injuring Gopi in the leg. He was immediately taken to Civil Hospital, Amritsar, where he remains under treatment and tight police watch.

A Glock 9mm pistol was recovered from the injured suspect.

Initial investigations reveal that the murder was strategically orchestrated as part of a larger network of gang-related operations, reportedly coordinated by masterminds based outside India. The four men arrested are believed to have played direct roles in executing the killing.

Police officials have assured the public of continued vigilance. “This is just the beginning,” a senior officer stated. “Our investigation is ongoing, and we are actively working to identify and neutralize the entire network involved.”

With further arrests and revelations anticipated in the coming days, the operation underscores Punjab Police’s growing resolve to crush transnational crime networks and restore public confidence in law enforcement.
