Amritsar Police Crack Down on Cross-Border Arms Racket, Seize 7 Pistols and Arrest 4 Suspects

Amritsar, August 7 — In a decisive action against illegal arms trafficking, Amritsar Commissionerate Police have arrested four suspects linked to a cross-border arms smuggling network. Acting on precise intelligence, the police recovered seven sophisticated firearms, including PX5 9mm, Glock 9mm, and .30 bore pistols.

Punjab Director General of Police confirmed that the accused had direct links with smugglers based in Pakistan. The weapons were allegedly received through illegal routes near the Indo-Pak border and were intended for supply to criminal gangs operating within Punjab.

Officials revealed that the smuggling operation was being run from border villages and played a significant role in arming gangsters across the region. The recent bust is seen as a major step toward disrupting the supply chains of organized crime groups.

A case under the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Chheharta in Amritsar, and a detailed probe is now underway to trace the wider network involved in the racket. Authorities are also investigating the possibility of previous consignments and other collaborators.

Punjab Police reaffirmed their commitment to securing the state from external threats and criminal elements. They emphasized that operations against cross-border arms smuggling will continue with greater intensity in coordination with national security agencies.
