Amritsar Police Bust Cross-Border Arms and Drug Smuggling Network; Six Arrested, Weapons and Heroin Seized

Gurpreet Singh :- In a major crackdown, Amritsar Commissionerate Police dismantled a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling network, arresting six accused allegedly linked with Pakistan-based smugglers. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the police conducted a coordinated operation that led to the seizure of six sophisticated pistols, including rare foreign-made models, 60 live cartridges and approximately 3.513 kg of heroin.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were operating under the directions of handlers across the border and were involved in supplying illegal arms and narcotics near the Indo-Pak border region. The network is believed to be part of a larger organised smuggling syndicate facilitating the movement of weapons and drugs into Punjab.

Police have registered separate FIRs at Gate Hakima, Chheharta and Verka police stations in Amritsar. Officials said further investigation is underway to establish both forward and backward linkages of the network and identify other individuals involved in the operation. Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, illegal arms trade and organised crime in the state.
