Amritsar Police Burst Pakistan-Linked Heroin Smuggling Gang, Seize Over 8 kg of Narcotics

National Times Bureau :- In a major breakthrough against cross-border narcotics networks, Amritsar police have uncovered a significant heroin smuggling cartel, seizing 8 kilograms and 187 grams of heroin and arresting five members of the gang. Among those arrested is Soni Singh, also known as Soni, who already faces multiple NDPS cases.

Investigations revealed that the gang used hotels as temporary storage points for heroin shipments coming from Pakistan via drones. Police sources said the smugglers employed a highly discreet, film-style method of supply, leaving narcotics in crowded markets or less conspicuous areas to avoid suspicion.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that this operation is part of an ongoing anti-drug campaign. He confirmed that Soni Singh is a notorious smuggler with six prior cases registered across various police stations. Another member, Gursevak Singh, a private tutor by profession, was also involved in storing and distributing heroin from hotel rooms using bags and timed deliveries.

Other arrested members include Vishaldeep Singh, Gurpreet Singh, and Arshdeep Singh. Vishaldeep Singh has previous cases registered in Ludhiana, while Arshdeep Singh is facing ongoing proceedings in rural Amritsar. Authorities said the arrests mark a significant blow to the cross-border heroin supply chain operating in the region.
