Alberta Opens New International Office in Abu Dhabi to Boost Global Partnerships

Abu Dhabi (Rajeev Sharma): Alberta is strengthening its global presence with the launch of a new international office in Abu Dhabi, aimed at connecting the province to one of the world’s most dynamic regions for energy, investment, and innovation.

Premier Danielle Smith announced the initiative during her visit to the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2025, highlighting opportunities across sectors such as energy, agriculture, manufacturing, and emerging technologies.

“Alberta isn’t waiting for opportunity; we’re creating it. By opening our office in Abu Dhabi, we’re positioning Alberta at the heart of one of the world’s most dynamic regions for energy, innovation, and investment,” said Premier Smith. “This new office will help unlock game-changing partnerships, showcase Alberta’s world-class expertise, and strengthen our province’s role as a leader in global energy security and economic growth.”

The Abu Dhabi office will operate within the Canadian Embassy and serve as a hub for fostering trade, investment, and technological collaboration. It will particularly support Alberta companies seeking to expand into the Middle East and North Africa while attracting investment back to the province.

Abu Dhabi was chosen for its strategic role as a gateway for global trade and a centre for energy, logistics, and innovation. The office will facilitate partnerships across traditional sectors like oil and gas, as well as emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and advanced manufacturing.

Alberta has maintained international offices for over 50 years, with locations in countries including Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, the UK, Mexico, the US, India, and Singapore. With the addition of Abu Dhabi, the province now operates 18 international offices, reinforcing its commitment to global engagement and economic growth.
