Mumbai, October 3, 2025: Actor Akshay Kumar shared a personal incident on Friday to highlight the alarming rise of cybercrime targeting children. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 at the Maharashtra Police Headquarters in Mumbai, the Bollywood star revealed how his 13-year-old daughter narrowly escaped an online threat.
Recounting the episode, Akshay said his daughter was playing an online video game when an unknown user initiated a chat, asking if she was male or female. Upon replying that she was female, she was shockingly asked to share nude photographs. The teenager immediately shut down the game and informed her mother.
“This is how things begin. This too is part of cybercrime,” Akshay warned, stressing the importance of protecting children from predators in the digital space. He urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to introduce a dedicated “cyber period” once a week in schools for students from Classes 7 to 10.
“You all know this crime is becoming bigger than street crime. It is very important to stop it,” the actor emphasized.
Akshay also called for cyber education to be formally included in the curriculum so that children remain aware and safe as online threats continue to grow.
The event was attended by CM Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra DGP Rashmi Shukla, IPS officer Iqbal Singh Chahal, and actor Rani Mukerji among others.
