Chandigarh, October 28, 2025: Chandigarh Congress spokesperson Ajay Joshi has accused the Municipal Corporation and the local administration of ignoring Sector-22, which he described as the “heart of the city now facing severe neglect.”
Joshi said that the area, once known for its liveliness and importance, has fallen into disrepair due to years of inaction by the authorities. He pointed to broken roads, poorly maintained parks, lack of traffic control, and the growing presence of illegal street vendors as major problems troubling residents. The situation, he added, has become especially difficult for elderly citizens who rely on the sector’s facilities.
He also noted that Sector-22 now feels isolated from the rest of the city, with no significant improvements in sight. Despite being home to some of Chandigarh’s biggest markets, the area still lacks proper parking arrangements and other essential amenities. According to Joshi, this condition highlights the administration’s failure to maintain one of the city’s most important sectors.
Ajay Joshi further stated that he plans to meet senior officials soon, along with representatives from different local communities, to push for urgent corrective measures. He said efforts will be made to address these civic issues promptly so that Sector-22 can regain its former vitality and convenience.
