Air India Flight AI186 from Vancouver to Delhi Encounters Significant Service Failures, Further Eroding Passenger Trust

Vancouver (Rajeev Sharma): Passengers on board Air India Flight AI186 from Vancouver to Delhi on 15th July, experienced a disappointing journey, raising serious concerns regarding the airline’s service quality. The long-haul flight was plagued by several issues, including malfunctioning entertainment systems and unresponsive in-flight staff, under the command of Pilot Parshant Pankaj.
According to passengers, entertainment screens for nearly half the seats were non-functional throughout the flight. “The crew had no explanation—just repeated apologies,” said one frustrated traveler.

The situation is particularly alarming given the recent incident involving an Air India flight from London, which left many passengers shaken. Travelers stated they boarded the Vancouver flight with anxiety still fresh in their minds, only to be further disappointed.
A senior couple from Kolkata, visiting their daughter in Canada, expressed dismay. “We were already scared after hearing about the London incident. Now, we experienced broken air-conditioning, no entertainment, and staff who didn’t seem to care,” they said.
Following the Tata Group’s acquisition of Air India, customers had high expectations for improved service and reliability. However, many now feel those hopes have been dashed. “We choose Air India for its direct route to India, but clearly, passenger comfort and accountability are not a priority,” said another passenger.
Elderly travelers onboard called on authorities to take strict action, accusing the airline of misusing public trust and money. “This kind of service tarnishes the image of India,” remarked a Punjabi couple.
As complaints mount, it remains to be seen whether Air India management will take meaningful steps to restore confidence and deliver the quality experience travelers deserve.
