Air India Express pilot arrested weeks after alleged assault on passenger at Delhi airport

National Times Bureau :- An Air India Express pilot has been arrested in connection with alleged assault on a passenger at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), days after incident sparked outrage and prompted a government-ordered probe.  

The accused pilot, Captain Virender Sejwal was arrested after an investigation was launched into the incident involving alleged assault on passenger Ankit Dewan. 

“In the process of investigation, after the registration of the case, the relevant CCTV footage had been collected and statements recorded. The accused was also called for questioning, and his arrest was effected,” the officer said in a statement.

Captain Sejwal has been booked under  sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
