AGTF Punjab Foils Major Terror Plot Linked to Pakistan-Based BKI Operative Harwinder Rinda

Gurdaspur (National Times): In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab has successfully thwarted a major terror plot allegedly masterminded by Harwinder Singh alias Rinda, a top Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative currently based in Pakistan and believed to be acting with the support of Pakistan’s ISI.

Acting on specific human intelligence, AGTF teams conducted a swift and targeted operation in a forested region of Gurdaspur, where they recovered a significant consignment of terrorist weaponry before it could be delivered to Rinda’s local operatives.

Weapons Cache Recovered

The operation led to the seizure of:

  • 2 AK-47 rifles
  • 16 live cartridges
  • 2 magazines
  • 2 P-86 hand grenades

Initial investigations suggest that the cache was smuggled into India by Pakistani agencies at the behest of Harwinder Rinda. The weapons were allegedly meant to be used in coordinated terror attacks across multiple locations in Punjab to spread fear and disrupt peace in the region.

Legal Action Initiated

An FIR has been registered at Police Station Purana Shala, Gurdaspur under relevant sections of the Explosives Act and Arms Act.

Authorities have launched a follow-up investigation to trace the network of Rinda’s operatives and ensure that all individuals involved are identified and brought to justice.

Punjab Police’s Response

The Punjab Police reaffirmed its unwavering resolve to combat terrorism and organized crime, vowing to take all necessary measures to protect the safety and security of the state’s citizens.

“This operation sends a clear message that Punjab Police will not allow foreign-sponsored terror elements to gain ground,” an AGTF spokesperson stated. “We remain fully committed to dismantling terror networks and safeguarding the peace and integrity of Punjab.”

Harwinder Singh Rinda has been a known figure in cross-border terror operations and is already wanted in multiple terror-related cases across India. His involvement with Pakistan’s ISI continues to pose a significant security challenge, but the AGTF’s recent success marks another strong step in curbing such threats.
