African Swine Fever Threat in Nawanshahr: Bhaura Village Declared Epicenter, Strict Restrictions Imposed Until November 23

National Times Bureau :- Authorities have sounded an alert in Nawanshahr district following the detection of African Swine Fever (ASF) in pigs. Bhaura village has been declared the epicenter of the outbreak, prompting the administration to implement strict containment measures in the surrounding areas.

Under the directives issued by District Magistrate Ankurjeet Singh, a one-kilometer radius around Bhaura has been marked as an infected zone, while a 10-kilometer area has been designated as a surveillance zone. Movement of pigs and related products, including meat and feed, is strictly prohibited within and outside these zones. Entry into and exit from the surveillance area is also barred, and all pig-rearing equipment is restricted from being moved.

Officials have urged farmers and the public to comply fully with these measures to prevent further spread of the disease. While ASF is deadly to pigs, it does not pose a threat to human health.
