Actor Rajpal Yadav Surrenders at Tihar Jail After High Court Rejects Plea for Extension

New Delhi, February 5, 2026: Actor Rajpal Yadav on Thursday surrendered before the Tihar Jail authorities after the Delhi High Court declined to extend the deadline for his surrender in connection with his conviction in multiple cheque bounce cases.

According to jail sources, Yadav surrendered at around 4 pm. Following his surrender, jail authorities initiated standard operating procedures as per protocol.

The Delhi High Court had on Wednesday refused to grant any additional time to the actor, who was earlier directed to surrender by 4 pm the same day. His counsel had informed the court that Yadav had arranged Rs 50 lakh and requested a one-week extension to complete the payment.

However, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma rejected the plea seeking more time, stating that no valid grounds were made out for granting such relief. The court maintained its earlier order and directed immediate compliance.

Yadav’s surrender comes after the court’s firm stance on enforcing its order related to his conviction under cheque dishonour cases.
