Tokyo, May 24, 2025 – Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, representing India as part of an all-party parliamentary delegation to Japan under Operation Sindoor, made a forceful statement against Pakistan’s role in terrorism, likening terrorism to a “rabid dog” and Pakistan to its “wild handler.”
Speaking in Tokyo, Banerjee emphasized that in matters of national security, opposition and ruling parties must speak in one voice. “Terrorism is like a rabid dog, and Pakistan is its wild handler. You can’t tame it, you can’t predict it. It can bite anyone, anywhere,” Banerjee said. He asserted that India’s unified response to cross-border terrorism demonstrates national resolve, irrespective of political affiliations.
The delegation’s visit, part of India’s global outreach following the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, also included commemorations of India’s shared history with Japan. Banerjee paid tribute to freedom fighter Rash Behari Bose at his memorial in Tokyo and called for its restoration. He also visited the Yasukuni Shrine to honor Justice Radhabinod Pal, known for his dissent in the Tokyo Trials post-World War II.
The Indian delegation met with senior Japanese officials, including Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya, who reaffirmed Japan’s support for India’s fight against terrorism. The meetings focused on deepening India-Japan cooperation in security, counterterrorism, and regional stability.
This visit marks Japan’s growing diplomatic alignment with India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism. The delegation is scheduled to continue its engagements with Japanese lawmakers, think tanks, and civil society representatives before heading to other strategic partner nations.
