Shimla (Sudeep Mahajan): BJP Himachal Pradesh in-charge and Mathura MLA Shrikant Sharma addressed an organisational meeting of the Pooh Mandal at Nako in Kinnaur district, where he discussed the state government’s functioning, the Vimal Negi case, party organisation and development priorities in tribal and border areas.
During the meeting, Sharma expressed confidence that the BJP would return to power in the next Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections. He criticised the Congress-led government, alleging that it had not adequately addressed concerns relating to employment, government employees, farmers and orchardists. He said the BJP would continue raising public issues and urged party workers to maintain regular contact with residents and bring their concerns to the attention of the party leadership.
Referring to the death of Vimal Negi, Sharma questioned the state government’s handling of the case and called for a fair, transparent and independent investigation. He said the BJP would continue seeking accountability and justice for Negi and his family, adding that appropriate legal action should be taken against anyone found responsible. The allegations and concerns raised by Sharma would need to be assessed through the relevant investigative and legal processes.
Sharma also emphasised the importance of strengthening the BJP’s grassroots organisation. Referring to the slogan “Apna Booth, Sabse Mazboot,” he urged party workers to strengthen booth committees, conduct regular meetings, improve coordination and remain actively engaged with local communities. He said consistent public outreach was essential to understanding residents’ concerns and ensuring that local issues received attention.
Highlighting development priorities in Kinnaur and other tribal regions, Sharma stressed the need for improved road connectivity, healthcare facilities, education, telecommunications and horticulture infrastructure. He said the concerns of residents in remote and border areas required continued attention, particularly given the geographical and climatic challenges faced by these communities. He also acknowledged the efforts of BJP workers operating in difficult conditions across the region.
During his visit to the strategically important Shipki La border in Kinnaur district, Sharma interacted with security personnel deployed along the frontier. He appreciated their dedication and commitment to serving in challenging geographical and climatic conditions and expressed gratitude for their contribution to safeguarding India’s borders.
Sharma’s engagements in Kinnaur covered political organisation, governance-related concerns, the demand for accountability in the Vimal Negi case, regional development priorities and interaction with border security personnel.
