Punjab Woman Wins Rs 1 Crore Lottery With Just Rs 7 Ticket, Hopes to Build Better Future for Children

Punjab

Kotkapura (Gurpreet Singh): A Rs 7 lottery ticket has brought a life-changing surprise for Bimla Devi, a resident of Kotkapura in Punjab, who has won a jackpot of Rs 1 crore. Her husband works as a daily-wage labourer, and the unexpected prize has raised hopes of a more financially secure future for their family.

Bimla had purchased the ticket during an ordinary trip to buy clothes for her children. She visited the Star Lottery Stall near the railway station on Railway Road and bought the ticket without expecting anything extraordinary in return.

The following day, the small purchase turned into big news when stall operator Naresh Monga contacted her family to announce the win. The winning ticket was part of a lottery organised by the Sikkim government.

Small Ticket Brings Major Financial Relief

For a family that has relied on a labourer’s earnings to meet its daily needs, the prize could make a significant difference. Bimla said managing household expenses had often been difficult, and the unexpected winnings had given the family new hope for its children’s future.

The windfall has opened up possibilities that were previously difficult to consider. However, the family has not yet settled on a final plan for spending or investing the money.

Family Considering Starting a Small Business

Rather than making an immediate decision, Bimla and her family intend to discuss how best to use the prize with their relatives. One option under consideration is setting up a small business that could provide a more stable source of income.

The family hopes the money will help improve its financial circumstances and create better opportunities for the children in the years ahead.

Lottery Stall Owner Celebrates Major Win

For Monga, the jackpot is also a significant milestone. He has been operating his lottery business for around six months and said his stall had previously sold tickets that brought customers prizes worth several lakhs of rupees.

However, he said this was the first time a customer had won the Rs 1-crore jackpot from his shop since he relocated the stall near Kotkapura railway station.

Bimla’s unexpected success has turned an ordinary shopping trip into a memorable moment for the family, with the prospect of greater financial stability now within reach.
