Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The third Surajkund Diwali Mela will be held from October 23 to 26, 2026, at the Surajkund Mela Grounds in Faridabad, bringing together traditional handicrafts, festive shopping, regional food and cultural performances ahead of Diwali.

Organised by the Haryana Tourism Department, the four-day event will be inaugurated by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on October 23. Haryana Heritage and Tourism Minister Dr Arvind Sharma and other dignitaries and senior officials are expected to attend the opening ceremony.

Union Minister Manohar Lal will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony on October 26, according to the state government’s announcement.

The event is designed to offer visitors from Delhi-NCR and neighbouring areas an opportunity to shop for festive products, sample regional cuisines and experience India’s diverse cultural traditions in one place.

What can visitors expect at Surajkund Diwali Mela 2026?

The fair will feature approximately 300 stalls showcasing handicrafts, handloom products, traditional artwork, home décor and other items suited to the festive season.

Visitors will be able to explore products from different parts of the country, including decorative items and traditional crafts for Diwali celebrations. The stalls will also provide artisans and craftspeople with a platform to display their work and reach a wider customer base.

For shoppers looking for alternatives to mass-produced festive decorations, the craft section is expected to be a major attraction. The range of products will also make the fair an option for families planning their Diwali shopping in advance.

Food court to feature regional cuisines

Food will be another major attraction at the four-day fair. Organisers plan to set up a large food court offering traditional dishes from different regions alongside popular offerings from established food brands.

The variety is intended to give visitors a chance to sample different regional cuisines while spending time at the fair.

With shopping, food and entertainment brought together at one venue, the mela is being positioned as a family-oriented festive outing for residents of Faridabad and the wider Delhi-NCR region.

Kanwar Grewal to perform during cultural evenings

The cultural programme will feature folk artists, traditional performers and folk dance groups throughout the four days. The performances will showcase different regional traditions and give visitors an opportunity to experience India’s cultural diversity.

Punjabi Sufi and folk singer Kanwar Grewal is among the featured performers and is expected to be a special attraction during the mela’s cultural evenings.

His performance will form part of a wider programme of music and cultural presentations planned to add to the festive atmosphere. The government announcement, however, does not specify the exact date and time of his appearance.
