BongMilanti’s Durga Puja 2026 Concludes Successfully in Vancouver

Vancouver (Richa Walia): BongMilanti – Metro Vancouver Bengali Cultural Association – has successfully concluded its Durga Puja 2026 celebrations, held from October 10 to 12, bringing the community together to celebrate Bengali traditions, devotion and cultural heritage.

The three-day event featured religious ceremonies, cultural activities and the much-anticipated Mayabano musical evening on October 11, featuring Somlata and The Aces. One of the major attractions came on the third day with the celebration of the traditional Sindoor Khela, a cherished Bengali ritual in which married women apply vermilion to one another as a symbol of marital happiness, blessings and the spirit of sisterhood. The colourful celebration added a special touch to the concluding day of the festival.

Sushmita Das expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors, donors, volunteers and attendees whose generous support and participation helped make the event a success. She acknowledged the collective efforts of everyone who contributed to the celebrations and helped create a memorable experience for the community.

BongMilanti is a not-for-profit, non-political society dedicated to promoting Bengali language, festivals, art and everyday cultural life across Greater Vancouver. The association welcomes people from diverse backgrounds and aims to provide a supportive environment for newcomers as they settle into the region.

The successful conclusion of Durga Puja 2026 highlighted the importance of community participation in preserving cultural heritage and strengthening social connections. From religious observances and musical performances to the vibrant Sindoor Khela, the celebrations offered a meaningful opportunity for the community to come together and keep Bengali traditions alive for future generations.
