Haryana Keeps Close Watch On Crop Procurement; IAS-Rank Officers Appointed To Oversee Mandis: Rajesh Nagar

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana government is closely monitoring crop procurement across the state’s mandis, with Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister of State Rajesh Nagar assuring farmers that steps are being taken to ensure a smooth purchasing process.

Nagar said IAS-rank officers have been appointed as nodal officers to monitor procurement arrangements in mandis. The government has directed officials to address farmers’ problems promptly and ensure they do not face difficulties while selling their crops.

The minister was speaking to reporters on Wednesday on the sidelines of the World Standards Day 2026 event organised by the Northern Regional Office of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in Chandigarh.

How Is The Haryana Government Monitoring Crop Procurement?

Nagar said ministers and MLAs have been regularly visiting mandis to review procurement arrangements. The Chief Minister has also directed the concerned officials to ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience during the sale of their produce.

The minister said a review meeting had been held with all District Food and Supplies Controllers (DFSCs) through video conferencing two days earlier. The meeting examined crop arrivals and procurement arrangements across different districts.

Deputy commissioners and DFSCs have also been instructed to ensure that farmers’ concerns are addressed without delay. IAS-rank officers have been designated as nodal officers across the state’s mandis to strengthen monitoring.

Have Farmers Reported Any Problems At The Mandis?

Nagar said he had not received information about any complaints related to the procurement process so far.

He acknowledged that waterlogging in some low-lying areas had caused moisture-related problems in crops. According to the minister, the issue was addressed by drying the affected produce.

He added that preparations had also been made in view of the weather forecast to minimise disruptions to procurement.

What Has The Government Said About Farmers’ Complaints?

The minister said the Chief Minister had recently reviewed procurement arrangements with departmental officials and instructed them to resolve farmers’ problems immediately.

Nagar added that he remained in regular contact with farmers and representatives of farmers’ unions. Farmers had recently met him at his office in Chandigarh, and he had also spoken over the phone with farmer leader Gurnam Singh Charuni.

He said the government remained committed to farmers’ interests and was taking the necessary steps to keep procurement operations running smoothly across Haryana.
