Pathankot Police Seize 7.823 Kg Heroin in Two-Phase Operation, Two Suspects Arrested

Pathankot (Gurpreet Singh): Punjab Police have dismantled an alleged cross-border heroin smuggling network in Pathankot, arresting two suspects and recovering 7.823 kg of heroin during a two-stage operation, according to an announcement by the police.

Pathankot Police shared details of the operation on social media, describing the seizure as a significant development in efforts to curb drug trafficking in the border district.

An FIR has been registered at Sadar Police Station in Pathankot, and investigators have launched further inquiries to establish the full extent of the alleged smuggling operation.

Digital trail under scrutiny

Police said the investigation is now focused on examining digital records and technical evidence to identify other individuals who may have been involved in the network. Authorities are also working to trace the financial transactions linked to the suspected trafficking operation.

The examination of these leads is expected to help investigators establish how the narcotics were sourced and transported, as well as whether additional handlers or associates were involved.

The identities of the arrested suspects and further details about the circumstances of the seizure were not disclosed in the announcement.

Punjab Police intensify anti-drug drive

Reiterating its commitment to tackling narcotics trafficking, Punjab Police said it would continue targeting organised drug networks as part of its campaign to make the state drug-free.

Pathankot’s location near the international border makes efforts to investigate suspected cross-border trafficking particularly significant. However, the police have yet to release further details establishing the precise route or method allegedly used in this case.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities seeking to uncover the wider network behind the recovered consignment and determine whether more arrests may follow.
