Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh)— Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini underscored his administration’s commitment to rural modernization on Wednesday, stating that village development remains at the forefront of state policy. Speaking during an official visit to his ancestral village, Mangauli Jatan in Kurukshetra district, Saini highlighted plans to develop rural zones in tandem with urban civic standards by upgrading essential amenities across the state.
The Chief Minister conducted an on-site inspection of the local village pond (johar) after holding direct discussions with residents regarding infrastructure bottlenecks. Villagers pointed out that despite initial earth-filling and shed construction by the local Gram Panchayat, the site continued to face severe monsoon waterlogging, posing difficulties for nearby residential households due to the lack of proper drainage, upkeep, and public seating facilities.
In response, Saini directed Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena to formulate a comprehensive restoration blueprint without administrative delay. The directives mandate thorough silt clearance, site beautification, and the construction of a reinforced perimeter boundary wall around the water body to prevent runoff overflows and encroachment.
Reiterating the broader developmental framework, Saini outlined ongoing projects to bring paved roads, concrete drainage systems, potable water pipelines, street lighting, community parks, open-air gyms, and digital e-libraries to rural settlements statewide. Former Minister of State Subhash Sudha, along with senior district administrative officials, accompanied the Chief Minister during the village inspection.
