Gurugram (Balwinder Singh): Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah on Wednesday officially flagged off the state-wide ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Jyoti Yatra’ in Gurugram as part of the nationwide Seva Sankalp campaign. Handing the ceremonial torch to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Shah called upon youth and public representatives to translate the vision of a developed India into a nationwide public movement.
The launch coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public office across his tenures as Gujarat Chief Minister and Prime Minister. A live broadcast of the Prime Minister’s address on governance, service, and civic participation was screened before an audience of thousands of youth, party delegates, and administrative officials at the state-level event.
Addressing the gathering, Shah remarked that the day marks an epochal chapter in democratic governance. He underscored that coming from humble beginnings, Modi’s consecutive quarter-century tenure across state and national executive offices stands out as an unprecedented administrative record.
Shah enumerated key national milestones overseen by the Union leadership, citing targeted welfare programs that lifted 250 million citizens out of multi-dimensional poverty, the abrogation of Article 370, substantial reductions in left-wing extremism, modern physical infrastructure growth, and cultural projects including the Kashi Vishwanath corridor and the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He stated that the torch procession serves to engage citizens directly around these milestones and mobilize grassroots participation toward the nation’s long-term economic and social targets.
Following the inaugural ceremony, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini led a civic procession through key transit routes in Gurugram, culminating in the ceremonial installation of the yatra’s torch near Signature Tower. Saini formally handed over the torch to local youth leaders, urging the state’s working population to drive Haryana’s contribution to industrial, technological, and social progress.
The launch was attended by several senior leaders and administrators, including Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh, Haryana Cabinet Ministers Rao Narbir Singh and Gaurav Gautam, state BJP chief Dr. Archana Gupta, former Union Minister Smriti Irani, and senior district officials.
