Delta (Richa Walia): Todd Schierling, BC NDP candidate for Delta North in the 2026 provincial election, held a campaign launch event followed by a door-knocking initiative, bringing together party representatives, community leaders, campaign volunteers and supporters.
The gathering was attended by Ravi Kahlon, MLA for Delta North and provincial minister; Harry Bains, former provincial minister and longtime MLA for Surrey; and Sahib Thind, who was associated with an upcoming announcement concerning Surrey North.
Todd Schierling, a veteran firefighter and community volunteer, serves as President of the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Association and as a Suppression Fire Captain with Surrey Fire Service, where he has served since 1996.



His community involvement includes helping establish the Surrey Firefighters’ Goodwill Senior Girls High School Basketball Tournament in 2001, which has provided more than $125,000 in bursaries to female student-athletes.
Schierling has also served on the BC Municipal Pension Plan, the BC Federation of Labour Executive Council and the BC First Responders Mental Health Committee, alongside national academic working groups focused on firefighter cancer research and early detection.
The campaign event provided an opportunity for participants to discuss community priorities, economic development, public services and issues affecting residents across the region.
Representatives of National Times were also present at the campaign gathering, covering the event and the participation of political and community representatives.
Schierling’s campaign is centred on building a stronger economy and province for Delta North, with stated priorities including supporting families, protecting public services and creating opportunities for residents..
