Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Amid the impressive performance of Indian athletes at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, Haryana’s women athletes are making the state and the country proud with their performances. Haryana Minister of State for Sports Sh. Gaurav Gautam extended his best wishes to the Indian women athletes, particularly the daughters of Haryana, for their outstanding performances at the Games.
He said Haryana’s daughters have once again demonstrated through their hard work, talent and determination that the state is a powerhouse of sporting talent.
The Sports Minister said the presence of six daughters of Haryana in the Indian women’s kabaddi team is a matter of immense pride for the state. He said women are today leading the country not only on the sporting field but in every sphere. The performance of the kabaddi team reflects teamwork, discipline and strong determination. He expressed hope that Haryana’s athletes would return from the Asian Games with a rich haul of medals.
Sh. Gaurav Gautam said the state government is committed to providing athletes with modern sports facilities and international-level coaching. Through Mission Olympics-2036, special emphasis is being laid on identifying and nurturing sporting talent from the grassroots level.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, initiatives such as Khelo India have helped create a strong sporting ecosystem in the country, the impact of which is now visible in international competitions.
The Sports Minister said Haryana’s athletes would be accorded a grand welcome and civic felicitation on their return from the Asian Games. He also urged the youth to make sports a means of personality development and said the state government would continue to provide equal opportunities to every talented athlete to progress and excel.
