Shamli (Balwinder Singh): Haryanvi singer and YouTuber Ankit Balyan was shot dead by unidentified assailants outside a gym in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district on Wednesday evening, police said. The attackers reportedly arrived on two motorcycles and fired multiple rounds before fleeing the spot.
The shooting took place under the Kotwali police station area when Balyan was coming out of the gym. He died at the scene.
Ankit Balyan Shot Multiple Times Outside Gym
According to police, the assailants reached the area on two motorcycles and opened fire at Balyan as he emerged from the gym.
Police personnel rushed to the spot after receiving information about the shooting. Balyan’s body was subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination.
Shamli Superintendent of Police MP Singh said an investigation had been launched and multiple teams were working to identify and arrest those responsible for the killing.
Police are also examining CCTV footage from the area as part of efforts to trace the attackers and reconstruct their movements before and after the shooting.
Was Ankit Balyan Planning To Contest Panchayat Elections?
Following the killing, speculation emerged that Balyan was considering contesting the upcoming panchayat elections.
However, there has been no official confirmation from police or Balyan’s associates about his reported political plans. Investigators have also not established whether any such plans had a connection with the killing.
The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.
Who Was Ankit Balyan?
Ankit Balyan was known as a Haryanvi singer, performer and YouTube content creator. His YouTube channel had accumulated more than 3.66 lakh subscribers, giving him a sizeable following online.
He appeared as a singer and performer in videos alongside different collaborators. Some of his online content also featured SUVs and firearms.
Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or established a motive so far. Police teams have been formed to apprehend the assailants, while CCTV footage and other evidence from the crime scene are being examined.
