MP Malvinder Singh Kang Reviews Central Schemes In Mohali, Calls For Timely Benefits And Faster Development Works

SAS Nagar (Gurpreet Singh): Member of Parliament from Sri Anandpur Sahib, S. Malvinder Singh Kang, today chaired a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at the District Administrative Complex to review the progress of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes and development works in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar.

S. Kang directed officials to ensure that all schemes and development projects are implemented effectively and completed within the stipulated timelines so that benefits reach eligible beneficiaries without delay. He stressed close inter-departmental coordination, transparency and regular monitoring.

Reviewing MPLAD works, the MP said that 101 works worth Rs. 329.23 lakh have been sanctioned in the district, covering cremation grounds, public libraries, community and cultural buildings, playgrounds, gym equipment, parks, CCTV systems and other public facilities. He directed officials to complete pending works within the prescribed timeframe and ensure proper utilisation of funds.

The MP also reviewed the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission, under which 82,024 households in the district have been provided piped drinking water connections. Progress under the Swachh Bharat Mission, PMAY (Urban and Rural), PM SVANidhi, MGNREGA/VB-G RAM G, health, education, women and child development and other Central schemes was also reviewed.

S. Kang directed the Agriculture Department to take action against distributors and retailers selling medicines along with urea and fertilisers in violation of norms. He also called for greater promotion of organic farming, food processing and horticulture schemes to enhance farmers’ incomes.

He directed urban local bodies to strengthen sanitation and scientific solid waste management, while stressing improved infrastructure and cleanliness in government schools and health institutions. He also reviewed staffing, vacant posts, equipment and basic facilities in government hospitals.

The MP emphasised that no eligible person should be deprived of the benefits of government schemes and directed departments to ensure transparent, effective and accountable implementation.

Deputy Commissioner Smt. Komal Mittal assured the MP that all departments were being directed to undertake time-bound action on the issues discussed and ensure effective implementation of welfare and development schemes.

The meeting was attended by MLA Dera Bassi S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa, Municipal Corporation Commissioner S. Sundeep Singh Garha, ADC (Urban Development) S. Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, ADC (Rural Development) Smt. Sonam Chaudhary, SDM Mohali Damandeep Kaur and senior officers of various departments.
