Kapurthala/New York (Gurpreet Singh): A 25-year-old Punjabi immigrant was gunned down in New York while working as a food courier on Saturday. The victim has been named as Gurdeep Singh, hailing from Jabbowal village in the Bholath tehsil of Punjab’s Kapurthala district.
His father, Pyare Lal, stated that Gurdeep had relocated to the United States nine years prior and was currently awaiting the resolution of his permanent residency application before the courts. Family members noted that he had previously been employed at a local retail store before taking up pizza delivery routes.
The fatal shooting occurred on August 22 when Gurdeep attempted to collect payment upon dropping off an order. The assailants shot him during the altercation, resulting in fatal injuries. The tragic loss has cast a pall of gloom over his ancestral village, with relatives seeking government intervention to assist during this difficult time.
