59th State-Level School Kabaddi Championship Inaugurated in Charkhi Dadri

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda inaugurated the 59th three-day State-Level School Kabaddi Tournament at the Captain Jile Singh School premises in Charkhi Dadri on Saturday. Emphasising the integral balance between academics and sports in youth development, the minister highlighted that sustained physical activity promotes overall health while robust state and central policies continue to empower athletes to compete on elite global stages like the Olympic Games.

The three-day tournament features district teams from across Haryana competing in the under-14, under-17, and under-19 age categories. Accompanied by local Member of Legislative Assembly Sunil Satpal Sangwan, the education minister interacted with the participating players, encouraging them to maintain rigorous nutritional habits and dedicate themselves fully to the sport.

Addressing the gathering, Dhanda noted that grassroots sports policies alongside initiatives like Khelo India, substantial cash awards, and reserved public sector employment opportunities are yielding tangible results. He detailed ongoing provincial infrastructure projects, including large-scale stadiums and village-level sports and yoga centres, while acknowledging the rising achievements of female athletes across diverse sporting disciplines and their role in the nation’s broader development goals.

Adding to the address, MLA Sunil Satpal Sangwan highlighted Charkhi Dadri’s longstanding tradition of producing distinguished athletes, soldiers, and farmers. He reiterated the state administration’s commitment to expanding rural sports infrastructure so local talent can continue to earn honours in national and international competitions.
