Airdrie / Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): The Indian Society Airdrie is set to celebrate India’s 79th Independence Day on Friday, August 15, with a vibrant community gathering at Nose Creek Park (Temporary Flagpole), Airdrie, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The free public event is expected to attract a large number of families and community members, continuing a tradition that has grown stronger every year.
Sharing details with National Times Media, Maulik Shah said this year’s celebration will feature the ceremonial Indian flag hoisting, cultural performances, free refreshments, and complimentary Indian flags and tricolor tattoos for children. A special highlight of the event will be the recognition of dedicated community volunteers whose selfless service has helped make the annual celebration a success.
Shah also appealed to local business owners to support the volunteer appreciation initiative by contributing gift cards of any value. He said the contributions will not only recognize the efforts of volunteers but also provide businesses with valuable visibility and recognition during the event.

“This is the fourth consecutive year we are organizing the Independence Day celebration, and every year we have witnessed an overwhelming response from the community,” Shah said. “Our goal is to bring families together, celebrate India’s rich heritage, and acknowledge the volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes.”
The organizers have invited everyone in and around Airdrie and Calgary to attend the celebration and enjoy an evening of patriotism, culture, and community unity. For sponsorship opportunities or participation in cultural performances, interested individuals can contact 403-860-5465. The event is open to all, with free admission, refreshments, Indian flags for children, and tricolor tattoos.
