Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana government has introduced a major amendment to its employment reservation policy, formalising a category-wise distribution within the existing 20 per cent quota set aside for former Agniveers in direct government recruitments. The revised directives were officially issued by Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi. The new notification introduces a structural modification to the state’s previous order dated August 20, 2025, which had initially established the baseline reservation framework for veteran Agniveers across the state services.
Under the revised provisions, the total volume of reservation dedicated to former Agniveers remains fixed at 20 per cent, but it now features a distinct, legally binding category-wise breakup. This new administrative mechanism will be strictly applicable to direct recruitments for specific frontline field positions. These include the posts of Forest Guards within the Department of Environment, Forests and Wildlife, Prison Warders in the Prisons Department, and Mining Guards under the jurisdiction of the Department of Mines and Geology.
The structural category-wise breakup within the 20 per cent quota has been explicitly detailed to ensure balanced representation across socio-economic groups. According to the revised policy, 2 per cent reservation is allocated to Deprived Scheduled Castes (DSC), 2 per cent to Other Scheduled Castes (OSC), 3 per cent to Backward Classes-A (BC-A), 2 per cent to Backward Classes-B (BC-B), and 2 per cent to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The remaining 9 per cent within the quota has been mapped out for the unreserved or general category candidates, cumulative of the aggregate 20 per cent cap.
To ensure seamless execution, the official government notification outlines distinct, individual roster points for each designated category. This measure is intended to enforce absolute uniformity and transparency across all state recruitment boards during the active hiring cycles. The Chief Secretary’s office has formally circulated copies of these revised directives to all administrative secretaries, heads of departments, managing directors of state boards and corporations, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, the Registrar General of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and registrars of all state universities for immediate compliance.
