Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana government has launched a dedicated education loan scheme to support specially abled students in pursuing higher education and achieving self-reliance. Administered through the Haryana Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections Kalyan Nigam, the initiative aims to provide essential financial backing to ensure that financial constraints do not force students to abandon their academic goals. The financial assistance is designed to cover tuition fees, academic expenditures, and other essential study-related costs, opening doors to competitive employment and a dignified livelihood.
According to an official government spokesperson, eligible students can secure education loans up to 50 lakh rupees to pursue professional and technical courses at recognized educational institutions within India and abroad. To qualify for the scheme, the applicant must be a permanent resident of Haryana and possess a certified disability of at least 40 per cent. The age criterion for general category applicants is set between 18 and 55 years, while the minimum age limit is lowered to 14 years for intellectually disabled individuals. Securing formal admission into a recognized professional or technical programme is a prerequisite, alongside holding a valid Parivar Pehchan Patra. For loan amounts reaching 15 lakh rupees or higher, a Unique Disability ID registration issued by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India, is strictly mandatory.
When applying for the financial aid, candidates must submit a comprehensive set of documents, including proof of identity, citizenship, and age. The required documentation includes a Haryana domicile certificate, disability certificate, passport-sized photographs, admission letter, course duration details, the institutional fee structure, and previous academic transcripts. The Haryana Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections Kalyan Nigam periodically invites applications under this scheme. Eligible students and their parents are encouraged to monitor the department’s official website regularly to remain updated on application timelines, fulfill the necessary criteria, and submit their forms to leverage these advanced educational opportunities.
