Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh)—Haryana has established itself as a leading state in cybercrime control, registering a remarkable 31 percent fund restoration rate through the Money Restoration Module. This recovery rate is eight times higher than the national average of 3.85 percent. Official data revealed that during the first six months of 2026, state authorities successfully removed over 14,000 pieces of illegal online content and apprehended 3,947 cybercriminals. Furthermore, an intensive crackdown in the cybercrime hotspot of Nuh led to the arrest of 927 criminals over the past 18 months, alongside the training of 9,100 police personnel in advanced digital forensics and cyber investigation techniques.
The progress was reviewed during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi. The Chief Secretary directed various departments to expedite human resource sanctions for the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre and called for advanced technology-driven policing, artificial intelligence-driven surveillance, and enhanced institutional capacity. According to data from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, Haryana successfully issued 2,241 restoration orders across 7,316 cases, vastly outperforming national trends.
Superintendent of Police (Cyber) Mayank Gupta stated that the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre in Panchkula underwent a massive expansion in 2026. The centre now includes dedicated units for artificial intelligence integration, social media monitoring, and dark web investigations. Additionally, Haryana launched an e-Zero FIR facility on June 25, 2026. Under this system, any financial fraud complaint exceeding one lakh rupees received via the national helpline 1930 is automatically converted into an electronic Zero FIR, ensuring immediate registration and swift investigation across local cyber police stations.
Enforcement actions also scaled up significantly through the Sahyog portal, which saw the removal of 14,139 fraudulent links, phishing websites, and impersonating advertisements in the first half of 2026 alone, compared to 5,169 removals in the entirety of 2025. In Nuh, proactive policing resulted in the registration of 473 FIRs and the seizure of hundreds of mobile devices and SIM cards. Police leveraged tower dump analysis and the Pratibhimba portal to block over 43,000 suspicious mobile numbers, effectively dismantling organized crime networks. The meeting concluded with a review of public outreach efforts, noting that the Haryana Police conducted over 1,300 awareness campaigns, educating more than three lakh citizens on digital safety.
