Shahjahanpur (Gurpreet Singh): A large gathering of Sikh representatives from across Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly and Lucknow divisions convened at Gurudwara Sahib Kar Seva in Banda, Shahjahanpur, where leaders outlined a roadmap to strengthen community welfare, legal assistance and organisational unity.
The convention, organised by the Uttar Pradesh Sikh Gurudwara Coordination Committee, witnessed participation from more than 500 delegates, including members of Gurudwara management committees and Sikh social organisations representing several districts, tehsils and towns across the region.

The meeting was chaired by senior advocate Sardar Parvinder Singh, while the proceedings were coordinated by Dashmesh Academy Manager Sardar Baldev Singh. Speakers stressed the importance of creating a united platform capable of addressing the concerns of the Sikh community living in the state.
Addressing the gathering, committee president Advocate Parvinder Singh said the organisation was established to improve coordination among Gurudwara committees and social bodies while working for the welfare of nearly 3.5 million Sikhs residing in Uttar Pradesh. He said the committee aims to help community members access government welfare schemes, strengthen social harmony and safeguard constitutional rights guaranteed to religious and linguistic minorities.
He also announced plans to establish a dedicated legal panel comprising Sikh advocates to provide legal guidance and representation in matters affecting the community. Besides legal assistance, the committee intends to work towards enhancing the political and social participation of Sikhs across the state.
General Secretary Sardar Mandeep Singh Walia emphasised that unity within the community would be the key to addressing future challenges. He urged Sikh organisations to work collectively instead of functioning in isolation, saying coordinated efforts would help amplify the community’s voice.
Representatives attended the meeting from Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Badaun, Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri and several surrounding towns, reflecting broad participation from Gurudwara committees and community organisations.
The convention concluded with a collective resolve to strengthen cooperation among Sikh institutions, expand legal awareness initiatives and build a stronger support network for community members throughout Uttar Pradesh.
