New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh): Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has alleged that approximately five-hundred farmers spanning across Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh have been placed under house arrest by law enforcement authorities. Speaking exclusively to reporters on Sunday, June 28, 2026, Dipke claimed that the coordinated police action was deliberately designed to restrict agrarian leaders and workers from joining the ongoing mass student demonstrations at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
The youth-led sit-in agitation, which entered its ninth consecutive day on Sunday, centers on demands for the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over widespread examination irregularities and paper leaks associated with national competitive exams. The protest gathered fresh momentum over the weekend after renowned climate activist Sonam Wangchuk formally joined the agitation and embarked on an indefinite hunger strike in solidarity with the students. Taking to social media platform X, Dipke strongly condemned the alleged detentions, asserting that several prominent agrarian figures were actively blocked from traveling to the national capital to suppress collective mobilisation.
Despite the alleged administrative travel curbs, a notable contingent of regional farmer leaders and representatives from various khap panchayats successfully converged at Jantar Mantar on Sunday afternoon to express solidarity. Sarv Khap convener Om Prakash Dhankhar issued a stern warning to the central government regarding a significantly larger, unified farmers’ mobilisation scheduled to commence on Monday. Dhankhar confirmed that he remains in continuous communication with senior farm union leaders, including Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait and Gurnam Singh Charuni, both of whom are closely monitoring the developments and are expected to physically join the Jantar Mantar protest site within the coming week.
