Jalandhar (Gurpreet Singh): Acting on intelligence inputs, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have dismantled a suspected criminal module with international links by arresting four individuals allegedly involved in extortion and firing cases across Punjab. The operation also resulted in the recovery of three sophisticated firearms and several live cartridges.
Investigators believe the arrested suspects were working at the behest of handlers operating from abroad and had played an active role in coordinating and executing violent incidents in Jalandhar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar districts. The accused are also suspected of being part of a larger network engaged in intimidating businessmen and spreading fear through targeted attacks.
An FIR has been registered at Bhargo Camp Police Station, and officials have launched an extensive probe to trace the syndicate’s financial channels, communication network, and possible local collaborators. Police teams are examining digital evidence and questioning the accused to uncover additional links that may lead to further arrests.
Senior officials said the successful operation reflects the department’s continued focus on intelligence-driven policing and its determination to curb organized crime with transnational connections. They added that efforts are underway to dismantle the entire network and ensure that those aiding such criminal activities are brought to justice.
The latest action is being viewed as another significant step in Punjab Police’s campaign against gangs operating with foreign support, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining peace and public security across the state.
