Missouri (Rajeev Sharma): A tragic aviation accident claimed the lives of 12 people after a skydiving aircraft crashed moments after taking off from Butler Memorial Airport in Missouri on Sunday morning.

According to emergency officials, the aircraft was carrying 11 skydivers and a pilot when it went down near the airport, leaving no survivors. Authorities confirmed that all 12 occupants lost their lives in the devastating incident.

Preliminary reports suggest the Pacific Aerospace P750 aircraft had departed from Butler Memorial Airport but unexpectedly turned back shortly after takeoff for reasons that remain unclear. Before it could land safely, the plane crashed near a roadway in the vicinity of the airport.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed the fatalities through an official update, while local emergency management teams rushed to the scene to begin rescue and recovery operations. The crash site has since been secured as investigators collect evidence.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that air traffic control services were not being provided at the airport when the accident occurred. Officials added that the aircraft crashed at approximately 11:35 a.m. local time.

The plane was reportedly operated by Skydive Kansas City, a company offering recreational skydiving experiences in the region. The identities of the victims have not yet been officially released pending notification of their families.

Federal investigators, along with local authorities, are expected to examine the aircraft’s maintenance records, flight data, weather conditions, and pilot communications to determine the cause of the crash.

Located roughly 95 kilometres south of Kansas City, Butler has been left in shock by one of the deadliest aviation incidents involving a skydiving aircraft in recent years. Officials have appealed to the public to avoid speculation until the investigation is complete.
