Ladowal Toll Plaza Made Toll-Free as Qaumi Insaf Morcha Intensifies Protest Over Sikh Prisoners’ Release

Gurpreet Singh :- The Qaumi Insaf Morcha on Monday intensified its campaign seeking the release of Sikh prisoners by staging a protest at the Ladowal Toll Plaza, one of Punjab’s busiest and highest-revenue toll points. As part of the demonstration, toll collection was suspended for a period, allowing commuters to pass through without paying charges.

A large number of Morcha supporters gathered at the site and raised slogans against the Centre, alleging that their long-pending demand for the release of Sikh prisoners has been consistently ignored. Protest leaders claimed that despite years of peaceful agitation, no meaningful progress has been made on the issue, adding that even parole and other legal relief measures have remained out of reach for many inmates.

The organisation said the protest was aimed at drawing national attention to the matter and sending a strong message to the authorities. Morcha representatives also appealed to farmer unions, Sikh organisations and civil society groups to extend support to their movement.

Meanwhile, the district administration remained on high alert throughout the protest. Heavy police deployment was made at and around the toll plaza to maintain law and order and ensure smooth traffic movement. Senior officials monitored the situation closely to prevent any untoward incident.

The protest forms part of the Morcha’s ongoing campaign, with its leaders indicating that further demonstrations could be organised if their demands continue to remain unaddressed.
